DSIP
What is common, what is less so, and what to do if something is out of the ordinary.
What most people notice
Many people do not notice anything in particular.
When there is an effect, it is most often drowsiness on waking, the morning after the injection.
What can also happen
- A mild headache or brief nausea.
- More vivid dreams than usual.
- Brief dizziness.
- A slight drop in blood pressure, occasionally reported.
- A small reaction at the injection site.
To reduce these effects
- Stick to the time set by your protocol, without moving it earlier.
- Get up slowly in the morning, especially in the first few days.
- Keep a regular sleep schedule.
- Avoid alcohol on the evening of the injection.
- Do not raise the dose on your own.
When to talk to a professional
With this product, especially if you notice:
- Drowsiness that goes beyond the morning and interferes with your activities.
- Significant dizziness when standing up.
- Low mood that sets in.
If a symptom is severe, lingers or worries you, stop the product and talk to a healthcare professional. An immediate reaction after the injection, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face, needs medical care right away.
Specific to this product
- It is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Be careful if you take medication for high blood pressure or if your blood pressure is usually low.
- If you take a sleeping pill, a sedative, or a medication prescribed in psychiatry, talk to your doctor first.
- Sleep apnea should first be assessed by a healthcare professional: its cause is mechanical.
Where the research stands
Level of evidence: Documented in humans
What is known about how well it is tolerated comes from small human studies. Long-term follow-up remains limited.
