SS-31
What is common, what is less so, and what to do if something is out of the ordinary.
What most people notice
Redness or itching at the injection site, which usually clears on its own in a day or two.
What can also happen
- Swelling or a bruise at the injection site.
- A small firm spot under the skin at the injection site.
- Brief headaches or dizziness.
To reduce these effects
- Change the injection site every time.
- Press the pen slowly.
- Let the alcohol dry on the skin before the injection.
- If redness bothers you, apply a cold compress.
When to talk to a professional
With this product, especially if you notice:
- A skin reaction that spreads, or that lasts more than a few days.
- Palpitations or unusual shortness of breath.
If a symptom is severe, lingers or worries you, stop the product and talk to a healthcare professional. An immediate reaction after the injection, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face, needs medical care right away.
Specific to this product
- It is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- With a diagnosed mitochondrial or heart condition, it does not replace follow-up by your care team.
Where the research stands
